Les Invites de Villeurbanne – Festival pas pareil

For 4 days usually in June, Les Invites, a street arts festival, offers free shows and creations of all kinds in the city of Villeurbanne. Enjoy a highlight of Villeurbanne’s cultural life with over 100 performances featuring  dance, theater, laughter, shows and committed artists, music and poetry.

The Zoological Park

In 2006, Lyon Zoo, located in Parc de la Tête d’Or, created an 8-hectare “African Plain” exhibit, featuring animals from the African savannah, including giraffes, zebras, and lemurs. This exhibit not only allows visitors to view animals in semi-freedom but also serves educational and scientific purposes, raising awareness about African biodiversity conservation.

It has 400 animals, with special focus on endangered species, with nearly half involved in European breeding programs. Pink flamingos, zebras and giraffes are among the colourful sightings in the African Savannah section. As a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Lyon Zoo actively contributes to species conservation through breeding efforts, leading to successful births of endangered animals such as giraffes, Amur leopards, and red-bellied lemurs.

Parc de la Tête

Parc de la Tête is the largest and most popular of all the parks in Lyon. Inaugurated in 1857, this urban park inspired by English landscape gardens covers 105 hectares of land. Its 17-hectare lake was created from a branch of the Rhône. Front de Parc is positioned along Parc de la Tête d’Or, offering views of the park and convenient access by car and bicycle in under 5 minutes .

Parc de la Feyssine

Between the campus of La Doua and the river Rhone, the urban nature park Feyssine covers 45 hectares and this old water catchment area appears as the largest green space in Villeurbanne.
