Our buildings and operations impact their immediate environments, the wider climate and environmental systems. At the same time the health of local environments impact our properties and our occupiers.
Our environmental investments and collaboration with stakeholders enables us to make our operations more sustainable, build resilience to climate risks and ensure our buildings are future-proofed in different climate scenarios. We are taking action to reduce waste and water consumption as well as on improving biodiversity and rewilding urban spaces.
The impacts of climate change, such as higher average temperatures, alongside changes to technology, markets, policy, regulation and consumer sentiment, on the pathway to a net zero carbon economy, create both risks and opportunities. Without planning and mitigation, these could have material impacts on the value of the company and our assets. Our Climate Resilience Plan and ongoing commitment to disclose these risks and opportunities, ensures risks are mitigated and opportunities maximised.
Our Environmental Targets & Highlights
Net Zero
Our properties and operations will be Net Zero by 2030, in line with the Science Based Targets and CRREM pathway.
Greenhouse gas emissions
Reduce GHG emissions and energy use in line with our Net Zero Carbon Pathway.
EPC ratings
Maintain or improve EPC ratings in the UK, to ensure all buildings are rated B by 2030 and ensure our portfolio in France is compliant with Décret Tertiaire regulations.
BREEAM
Ensure all new developments achieve a minimum of BREEAM Excellent (or equivalent).
Developments & refurbishments
Embed high sustainability standards across all development and refurbishment projects, in line with latest industry best practices.
Reduce water consumption
Achieve a like-for-like portfolio reduction in potable water consumption of 20%, by 2030 (against a 2019 baseline year).
Re-wilding
Re-wild 10% of maintained grassland under management by 2025.
Climate risks
Robustly integrate climate related risks and opportunities into our overall investment strategy.
